-The B-25 bomber Doolitte used to drop bombs on tokyo (retaliation for Pearl Harbour) was named for Mitchell. It was the only military aircraft to ever be named for a specific person.
-In 1946, Mitchell earned the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor (more information below)
